About Sharon Elsworth
Hi,
Sharon here, wrinkles and all. I'm a mother,
wife, sister and daughter, colleague, friend and probably a
few other labels,
depending on my mood...
I've been interested in "the bigger picture" for a long time
now. In my late
teens I started doing the questioning about "why we're really here" and
what
was the power behind our destiny, etc. It lead me to
a lot of
interesting places - both physically and emotionally. As a
twin, I needed to leave the country to become truly my own person
(although I didn't realise it at the time) in my early 20's and it
started me on a larger journey that included living in Melbourne,
Australia for 2½ years, travelling across the U.S. by myself
for 3 months before arriving in London and basing myself there while I
got to explore Europe and Africa, with a (too) quick trip to southern
Ireland. By the time I returned home, I knew I didn't want
to be in corporate life any more, but had no idea
what
direction I
wanted to head in. In my late 20's I
backpacked across Canada
and met up with a friend I'd previously met in the U.S. She
was a massage therapist and kindly gave me a massage (which
I'd always
been fond of) and something "clicked" in me. In 2000
I trained at the New Zealand
College of Massage for a Diploma in Therapeutic Massage and
started working from a home-based clinic, running my business on a
"trial by fire" basis! I loved what I did and was happy doing
it
full-time in Auckland.
In
the meantime, the
Universe was sending my future husband my way - I had to
kiss a
lot of frogs beforehand though! By the time we
got together and
he'd proposed and we'd started planning our future, I'd taken him
down to the Hawke's Bay and he'd fallen in love with the
area...
so, in March 2006, we made the move
on our 1st wedding anniversary.
I found administrative/customer service work in a nutritional
supplement importing company and it furthered my interest in natural
health and honouring the body's amazing self-healing mechanisms by
giving it what it needs to heal itself and avoiding as many "nasties"
as possible. During my time with that company I also had my two
children
and decided to follow my true calling after my second daughter was born
and go back to massage therapy, massage teaching (currently
baby
and young child massage) and to search for other ways to earn a living
while heading for my ultimate goal of making a positive difference in
the world.
Don't get me wrong, it hasn't been easy - in fact, I
described to a friend recently that my concept of becoming a
parent is
quite simply the hardest thing I've
ever done in my life - and that includes climbing to altitude in the
Himalayas during my honeymoon... or trekking for six hours in the hot,
wet
jungle to find the mountain gorillas on the border of Uganda and
Congo. I've found that it's like putting everything you think you
know and feel about yourself, life, expectations, self-worth, your
"reality" into a blender... out the other side comes someone you don't
necessarily recognise and have to get to know and amend to fit your
new life. Not to say the rewards aren't amazing - yes, the old cliches
are true - but what a journey to get there!
So,
now my littlest is in her second year, I have the
opportunity to put some focus and energy into other areas.
And
here's where some of that energy is going - to education, sharing ideas
and information and products that will make a positive impact on others.
I truly
believe that knowledge is power - that there is a lot of hidden
information "out there" that we need to make informed decisions about
our health, and that there are steps we can take to move in the best
direction for us all.
Please do join me on this journey - we can all end up together in the
most wonderful, healthy and abundant place, with no restrictions.
Dream big!
Here's a 27sec clip of me - look, I'm real!
